If you know your hair type then you can take care of your hair more precisely.  Many people get confused and ask the question of how often they should wash their hair. There are no hard and fast rules about the hair wash routine. However, washing hair with chemical or sulfate-based shampoo might damage the hair quality and hair may lose its natural luster.

Generally speaking, you can wash your hair twice or thrice a week. This routine gives healthy hair and clean scalps as well as keeps hair from over-drying or too oily. On the other hand, this practice may differ and depends upon many factors like exposure to sun or dirt, hair type, or oiling massage routine. You need to wash hair more often with oily hair. And this situation gets more complicated when oily hair has the problem of dandruff or sebum as well. So you need to choose a special shampoo for oily dandruff hair.

1. Hair Types

There are different types of hair. And each type of hair has different textures that need different care.  Wavy hair with thick strands needs the least hair care routine. So you don’t need to wash them daily. You can go with twice or three times a week formula with wavy hair. Curly hair often seems dry so you can wash them less or wash them if they have any dirt or styling product in them. While straight hair with thin hair strands needs to be washed almost daily.

2. Oil Produce

Our skin produces natural oil through sebaceous glands and the same is the case with scalp skin. When the scalp produces more excess oil than the normal routine then hair gets oily and catches dirt quickly. This dirt and oil may result in sebum in the hair. And this situation gets more evident if you live in a

humid and warm environment. Sweating and oily scalp causes itching and more sebum production than other hair types. So if your hair produces too much oil or gets oily easily, then you have to shampoo your hair on a daily basis.

3. Sweating

Sweating can be one of the main factors to influence your hair wash routine. Some people have more active sweat glands so they need to take showers more often. If you sweat too much then it more possibly your scalp will also produce sweat. To practice a hygienic routine you should wash your hair with mild shampoo daily to stay clean with fresh hair.

4. Activity and lifestyle

Living in a polluted environment or too much exposure to the sun also affects the hair quality and you need more hair wash than usual. In warm and humid conditions the scalp becomes more oil and results in greasy oil. Or sometimes your hair is not oily but catches the dirt from the surroundings. So you need to wash your hair regularly. You can choose a herbal shampoo with low PH so you can track your daily hair wash routine without damaging hair.

The thing you can use as an alternative to shampoo

You can use dry shampoo instead of using regular shampoo as a convenient option. Remember, dry shampoo can’t cleanse your hair. It will only make your hair look less greasy by absorbing the oil in it. So if you use a dry shampoo for a long time without dd washing your hair, then it may cause itching in the scalp due to the accumulation of dirt and pollutants in the hair.
