Quick Navigation
In a blink of an eye, your baby enters toddlerhood. Toddlers want to explore the little world around them. They lose interest in rattling baby toys, start thinking maturely, and want to satisfy their curiosity about all new things. Being parents, it is your duty to provide them with the best environment where they learn, play, relax and spend most of the time. Yes, it is a toddler bedroom. Whether you plan to transform a baby nursery into a toddler room or setting up a whole new room for your growing baby, there are 5 must-have items you must include to make the room kid-friendly.
Bedding
The first step you need for a growing kid is a bed that must be safe. I suggest you not go for a bunk bed for your toddlers. It is not safe at all. Instead, consider the convertible crib into a toddler bed or some small baby bed. As you know, toddlers are restless creatures, and they spill juices, water, or foodstuff on the bed. Don’t forget to put a waterproof mattress cover under the bedsheet to avoid smell and stains. Mattress protectors should be breathable to deal with the heat and sweat so that kids feel comfortable. The waterproof material makes the bedding block dust, mites, bugs, urine, and accidental spills from ruining the expensive mattress.
If you are searching for boys’ toddler bedroom ideas, then consider your little master likes and favorites in your mind while buying bedsheets. He might like any superhero cartoon character, robot, or sports item. Or if it is a girl, you can buy some bedsheets with a touch of Disney princess, a kitty, Dora, or a dollhouse. So it is up to you to give the bed some personality — inspired by your toddler.
Storage
Babies do not mess with things, but toddlers get bored with a toy quickly and grab a new one to satisfy their curiosity. If there is no storage bin, or cabinet in a toddler room, you will find the room messy all the time. So it is very important to plan smart storage that your kid can access and arrange by himself. Like you can install some kids height-friendly wardrobe so they can select and arrange the wardrobe by themselves. For their toys, you can add some low-height shelves or buy some baskets where they keep their toys after playing with them and keep the room tidy. You can also buy some ready-made toy storage as well.
Decor
Again, focus on your toddler personality and likes & dislikes to plan some wall decor. There are many options available, but one thing you should keep in mind that the simpler the better. Do not overdo anything. You can buy some glow-in-the-dark ceiling stars, butterfly, animal stickers by keeping your kid’s interests in mind. These glowing wall stickers are very cheap yet attractive decor items for kids’ bedrooms. If you have a good budget, you can also install a night light projector with a sound machine.
Toddlers want to and run and play 24 /7. So do not keep lots of furniture, rugs, floor cushions, or tents in the child’s room. Try to keep the room clutter-free so that kids can play without hurting themselves. Also, don’t paint the wall with multicolors or vibrant paintings of cartoons or animals. Keep the paint suttle like pink for girls and blue and grey with a white contrast. Because there are tons of colorful toys around kids. So overdoing with colors and contrast looks tacky to eyes.
Learning
Toddlerhood is a learning stage when kids absorb most information quickly and remember throughout their life. A quiet corner with a toddler table and chairs is necessary to keep little hands and mind busy.
Why toddler furniture?
Because it gives the child a sense of ownership and coziness, and they feel the responsibility to do something creative, serious, and intellectual other than playing. They can easily sit, stand or move the small furniture independently. It is a place to do some art and craft activities with your kids to develop their interest in extracurricular activities. Moreover, toddler tables and chairs set are also essential for co-playing with their friends and classmates.
For learning, buy some toddler storybooks, animal puzzles, drawing books, and educational musical toys, they would love to play with them any time.
Lighting
Last but not the least, the lighting of the bedroom has a great impact on a child’s mood. Too warm or too cold or blue light increases the anxiety level in children. It is important to make arrangements for natural sunlight in the room. It motivates a happy mood for your child at the start of the day. Vitamin D present in Sunlight is necessary for strong bones. Moreover, sunlight eradicates the suffocation and bacterial & fungus growth in a room.
For the room-lighting, choose the lights with three levels of intensity that you can adjust according to time of day and night.
Not only ceiling lights, but also install some fairy lights to make kids enjoy at night when parents switch off the room lights. Kids feel uncomfortable in a completely dark room at night. Moreover, the fairy lights are safer than any side lamps as well.
A kid’s bedroom should be a place where they love spending time, feel comfortable, safe and relaxed. If a child sleeps swiftly without mommy’s assistance, it means he feels safe and sounds there. The things in a toddler bedroom are crucial for a developing mind, where they see things first in the morning and last at night. It is the very place where mind, body, and soul co-relate with each other at this precious time of age. So think wisely and plan a kidsroom project by keeping the child’s psychological and your financial factors in your mind.
Toys, beds, storage, decoration, the lighting, all are common for babies, toddlers and teenagers. But the types of things, and placement of things make the huge difference demand change with the age.
